Analysis: this piece includes our interpretation of the facts reported.

Inflation data from the U.S. and China on Wednesday, Oct. 14, lead a busy week for global markets. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes September CPI at 8:30 a.m. ET that day, hours after China's statistics bureau releases its September consumer and producer prices. Big-bank and chipmaker earnings fill the rest of the week.

Monday is quieter in the U.S. It is Columbus Day. The New York Stock Exchange is open, but SIFMA lists Oct. 12 as a U.S. bond market holiday, so Treasury yields below are Friday's. Japan's market is also closed for a national holiday, Trading Economics said.

It closed at its lowest level since Aug. 11 and about 30% below its June 22 record of 9,114.55, Yahoo Finance data show. Our Kospi analysis has the background.

Brent rose to its highest in more than two weeks as Middle East tensions grew, including another attack on Saudi Arabia's main airport, Trading Economics said.
